Within our growing digital world, digital marketing is constantly growing to heights never before seen. Digital ad spend has managed to recover to levels higher than ever, before the pandemic, according to the Internet Advertising Bureau.
Latest Data on digital Ad spend:
The latest data from the Internet Advertising Bureau (IAB) has shown that spending on digital advertising has totalled £10.5bn in the first six months of 2021. That is a 42% increase from the £7.3bn digital advertisement spend in the first six months of 2019, (before the pandemic).
The spend took a slight dip in the first 6 months on 2020, at £7.1bn, which gave way for a 49% increase in 2021, the biggest jump the IAB has ever recorded.
In this latest update, it was also revealed by the IAB that search remains the biggest digital channel. With £5.5bn being spent in the first half of 2021, up 49% from 2020.
Video spending also increased from £1.35bn in the first half of 2020 to £2.29bn in 2021. Another fascinating finding was the increase of display advertising spending, which is up 55% from last year.
On top of these increases, we can see that ad spend for mobile has risen by 75% in the first half of 2021 compared to the previous year according to the IAB. This means that it now holds a 64% share of all digital spending.
What this means for digital marketing:
All this data promotes the idea that digital marketing is a growing market, and is important to the modern world, even keeping encouraging figures throughout a global pandemic. Experts behind the data analysis said the latest figures are “really encouraging”, considering spending is now higher than it was before the pandemic, according to the IAB. All this data shows how the digital marketing sector is growing rapidly and is here to stay in the modern world.
