TikTok wants to ensure that their platform is fully accessible to all users, which is why they’re implementing auto captions. Auto captions will generate subtitles so that users can read or listen to content.

When a creator is making content, they can select auto captions on the editing page. This will allow the automatic transcribing of their video. Creators can also edit the captions to ensure they’re accurate. With this feature, users can choose whether or not to have captions showing. You can turn captions off by tapping the share button, then captions.

This is initially available in American English and Japanese with additional languages in the coming months. TikTok wants to encourage all users to use this feature in their content.
