First they are increasing transparency and control around adverts users see. Users have long been able to click ‘Why this ad?’ but in the next few months they’ll be able to see more about the ad. Including the verified name of the advertiser.

As part of a new privacy initiative there are some new proposals for API’s that could help solve use cases such as ad selection, conversion measurement and fraud protection. This would be done in a way that doesn’t provide identifying user information. One of the proposed API’s for trust tokens that could stop ad fraud is now available for developer testing.

Google is continuing to work towards a more privacy-forward industry with these new changes.
