It’s only September but the holiday season will arrive quickly. Due to this Google have announced new capabilities for local and shopping campaigns.

    Local campaigns are automated for locally based businesses. These can now be optimised for an increase in indicators that suggest a store visit will take place. Such as looking for directions or calling the business. This is great for when Google doesn’t have enough actual store visit data. Businesses will also be able to set up location extensions for multiple locations with data that is pulled from Google Maps if they are multi-location retailers.

    Google have also stated that approval for Google Merchant Promotions will be almost instant for eligible offers during the holiday period. Approval time can really throw off your sales plan, sometimes taking days.

    The holiday period is critical for a lot of retailers, particularly when it comes to ads being approved in time. Hopefully these updates will make the holiday period go smoothly for advertisers.
