We reported last week it looked like creators were leaving TikTok. This could have been due to the security / bad PR that the platform has been receiving over the last couple of weeks / months, or it could have been that with monetization options on a platform like Byte, a more sustainable option, as users can make money from the content that they are producing.  TikTok looks to have thought of this by offering a $200M creator fund.

In an official press release TikTok have announced that they are creating the TikTok creator fund to encourage “those who dream of using their voices and creativity to spark inspirational careers”.

Currently this is a US only fund and will be distributed over the next year and the fund is expected to grow if successful.

There are a couple of other ways that you can monetize yourself if you are a TikToker:

    1.  $50M has been added to the creative learning fund to try and help emerging teaching on the platform.
    2. TikTok live streams are currently monatisable.
    3. The TikTok marketplace helps marketers and TikTok creators collaborate.
