Just last week we talked about Twitter launching Fleets in Japan. With Twitter keeping very quiet on if and when this feature would be launched in the US.
Well, as of the 18th November, the feature had launched to US users. This tool allows Twitter to have a feature which is considered less permanent. Many users keep tweets in drafts for fear they aren’t appropriate or no one would be interested. Fleets expire after 24 hours, so it allows people to post without committing to a whole tweet.
In Twitter’s tests in other countries they saw an increase in use of Twitter once the tool was added. They attribute this to users feeling more comfortable in this format.
In the coming days they have said that Fleets will roll out worldwide and new features will be added to the tool based on user feedback.
