Google -Google’s webspam chief Matt Cutts taking time off

It has been confirmed that one of Google’s top employees has decided to take some time off. Matt Cutts is Google’s Webspam Chief and works with the search quality team on SEO issues. He is a very valuable member of Google’s team, although due to Google’s algorithm constant changes this can often lead to a drop in a site’s rankings. Therefore this unfortunately leads to a lot of hate aimed directly at Matt Cutts.

However, this has nothing to do with why he is choosing to take some time off. He has been with Google for almost 15 years which earns him the right to recharge, before heading back to his and tough job.

Here’s Matt Cutts’ announcement:

“I wanted to let folks know that I’m about to take a few months of leave. When I joined Google, my wife and I agreed that I would work for 4-5 years, and then she’d get to see more of me…”

Google Analytics – Avvo gains new insights with data import

 

During the Analytics Summit Google Analytics announced data import. This new function helps you to unite data from your various business systems; which allows you to organise your data to match the way your business is organised. This will allow for a much more accurate analysis and optimisation.

The consumer legal services brand Avvo have created clear and accurate data, which is continuing to impact decisions across their organisation. While they already have a fast-growing business, the lack of visibility into advertising success made it much harder to align key revenue opportunities with their actual site usage.
