Get To Know Blue Thirst

Tim

Introduce yourself…

Hi, I am Tim Nightingale, I’m 28 and I’m from Wolverhampton.

How did you get into digital marketing?

I got into digital marketing by doing a software development apprenticeship. I did this course because I’m a techy guy and I like computers.

Did you always want to work in digital?

I didn’t always want to get into digital marketing. I first got in to computing so that I could do Biothematics. A form of computing where you integrate biological and mechanical components together. I’ve since started looking more in to game design and I’ve made a few little bits and pieces to try and get my hand in.

What professional or personal achievement are you most proud of?

What I’m most proud of is one of the little games I made when I was trying to learn to do that. It’s a little small rpg, you walk into a little pen where there’s 5 slimes and you have a little sword. And I’m quite proud of how that turned out.

What is your favourite part of your job?

My favourite part of the job is doing any sort of programming work, because most of the time I’m doing excel reports and it’s nice to break it up for a little bit of change.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

Making big games for huge companies, like red project or ccp games. They’re cool.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

One of the best pieces of advice I’ve heard was that. Well to understand you’ve got to know that I’m quite a religious person and there’s a lot of religion in my family. I was told that no matter how bad things might get, there will usually be some purpose at the end of it. Joseph and his technicolour dream coat. The guy was beaten up, dragged, sold into slavery by his friends and family, locked in a prison for years and years. That got him in a position where he was able to save all of Egypt from famine and drought. So, that’s a lot of bad, but because of it he was in a position to save all of Egypt. Which isn’t that bad at the end of the day. Not quite something that you and I are going to be doing probably. Getting sold into slavery, beaten and saving Egypt. But something along those lines could happen and it might be helpful.

What’s your favourite thing to do outside of work?

On the weekends or on my time off I usually like to either print something on my 3D printer. Or I’ve made a small smeltery in my back garden to melt down metal from aluminium, tin cans and I’m trying to make a bigger forge, so I can do stuff with steel.

What hobby would you get in to if time and money weren’t an issue?

If money weren’t an issue I would get the parts for a much bigger forge, so I could definitely do steel. Get a power hammer so I could do lots more stuff and a hydraulic press to consolidate bits of or. It would be very cool, I’d be able to make swords and stuff.

If you were a superhero, what would your superpower be?

My superpower would be to fly, so I can get to places easily. But Lucy said she would teleport and that just sounds a lot more efficient.

If you won the lottery, what’s the first thing you would do?

If I won the lottery I would buy a big house with a big garden. So that I could buy the hydraulic press, power hammer, big forge and I’d have a lot of fun melting metal.

Thank you for watching!
